Printer proofs have arrived!

We are in the final production stages of the book! Below is a quick video of the printer's proof we received just 30 minutes ago (please forgive the poor lighting). It is not an exaggeration to say that this project has been one of our more difficult books to produce and we are so thankful for everyone's patience and support. We hope to receive the books in the next two - three months depending on shipping speed.

Progress shots!

We thought we would just share a quick update from the printer. Below are a few rough shots we received from the printer. As you can see, the gold ink on the interior pages is looking fantastic and the exclusive coins are even better than we had anticipated!

New printer selected. Files have been sent!

Files have been sent to a new printer

As many of you are aware, the COVID-19 (or Coronavirus) has caused serious issues worldwide for everything from toilet paper to Medical Face masks. Since 90% of all printed books are produced in China, the recent shut down has crippled the publishing industry. All projects scheduled from January to today have been put on hold due to the shutdown. This has impacted us at EVPub as well.

For the past two months we have been investigating other options for printing. Although the selected printer was perfect for the complexity of this project, we can no longer wait for production to start. Luckily, we have found another option with a printer located in the Ukraine. This company produced our Gjallarhorn Viking playing card deck and did a fantastic job. The production cost will increase slightly for us but it will be well worth it to have the project finally pick back up!

All files have been sent to the new printer and we are now waiting for a review copy to sign off on.

We greatly appreciate your support and patience and hope everyone stays safe and healthy (wash your hands).

Production schedule update
8 months ago – Thu, Jan 30, 2020 at 08:52:38 PM

We just wanted to give everyone a heads up in regards to the production of this beautiful book. Due to the current issues in China, we have asked our Printing Broker to assess the situation and begin looking at other options for us. If we are unable to find a good printer substitute, we may have to wait it out.

Given the unique nature of this book (gold PMS colors on interior pages), it has been challenging to find a reasonable cost per book, so we are hoping that the selected printer will be able to complete the order.

As soon as we have any news, we will update everyone ASAP.

Thank you for all of your support and patience. Our hearts go out to those affected by this terrible situation in China.

Final full-page illustration is complete!

"From the pains of hell and the bottomless pit"

De Poenis Inferni, Et De Prof Undo Lacu: (From the pains of hell and the bottomless pit)

The final full-page illustration is now complete! We can't wait to see how the gold ink flame design is illuminated in the final product :-)

What happens next?

So glad you asked! The next step towards completing this project will be the creation of print-ready files for production. The process will involve Matt color correcting all images, separating each of the gold ink plates, typesetting the book, proofing the text and translations, and finally sending off the files for production. Once these steps are complete, you will post an update with a better idea of the final delivery date.

We much appreciate everyone's support and patience with this first-ever visual adaptation of Mozart's Requiem. We hope everyone has a beautiful holiday!
